When did Ultimate Lizard show up before? I don't remember that in the regular book, unless I'm really glossing over something, and the book/summary all make it sound like there was a previous arc. Was that depicted in Ult Marvel Teamup?

* I don't think the last Cerebus phone book comes out for a few more weeks, Chew
* Picked up Identity Crisis #2 yesterday, which I liked even more than the first issue (except for my feeling that they're just dragging the poor character of Sue Dibny through the mud), finally got Ex Machina #1, very intriguing, and finally got around to picking up Essential Tomb Of Dracula Vol 1., whoo hoo! Although soon as I got it home and started reading it the binding began to give out, I may have to take it back to the shop. Put a little Elmer's on it to see if that did the trick. I love the essential books but this is the second one I've bought with shoddy binding, guess they're definitely made on the cheap.

what is marvel knights
What is the story behind this marvel series. I'm thinking of adding marvel knights spider-man trade to my pre-order this month, any thoughts?

It's gotten really mixed reviews. I think it's interesting but it also tries too hard to be "edgy" and "violent." There's been some major carnage in the first three issues I've read and the plot basically consists of Spider-Man getting brutally beaten left and right. That said, the dialogue is decent and the art by the Dodsons is just gorgeous. It just all feels a little excessive to me -- Spider-Man's not Batman and shouldn't be treated that way, this story has little "wisecracking friendly neighborhood Spider-Man" in it.

Personally I don't like Millar, but most people seem to. Decide for yourself:

Warning: for some reason they chose the final part of the first arc for the free preview. Maybe they thought the surprise at the end would keep people coming back for more.

Well I am coming back to comics after an over 10 year absence so who is this Mark Miller guy? Didn't he write ultimate x-men? I borrowed all the trades from a friend and really enjoyed them
It's his fault that I'm hooked again which is good and bad cause it ain't free!

Yeah, Millar wrote Ultimate X-men. His most popular work is the Ultimates. I think the work that most helped make him big was following Ellis on Authority. That seems odd to me, since juxtaposed next to Ellis, it should've been apparent how mediocre he was. He's also managed to leech off other much better writers. Before he made it big, he co-wrote a bunch of stuff with Grant Morrison. I think he had a short stint co-writing Superman with JM Dematteis. The favorite thing of mine he's worked on, is his co-writing Ultimate Fantastic Four with one of my favorite writers, Bendis.
Hehe, I don't know why I did this since I dislike him so much. I will admit all of his work seems to have potential, but he always manages to screw it up. I guess that's why he co-writes with other people so much.

This past week, I picked up:
Plastic Man #8 - Just keep on forgetting to take this one off my list at the comic shop. It's not bad, but I could use the extra money to buy a better book.
Lucifer #52 - A solid book almost very month, but still a bit of an underacjiever, in my opinion.
Ex Machina #2 - I'm not sure how I feel about the story, yrt, but I trust Vaughan enough to give it a little while. (I wasn't sure how I felt about "The Runaways" at first, either, but know I love it.) One thing I am sure of is that Tony Harris is one of my favorite artists. Seeing his art in this book has made me go back and re-read my "Starman" comics.
The Flash #212 - Woo Hoo! Another Rogues issue!
I've had a couple of light weeks lately, so I'm catching up on trades.
I just read the "Fallen Angel" trade, and I liked it enough to start looking around for the back issues not collected there. I might as well get them all before the series gets cancelled.
I'm finishing up "Justice League: A New Beginning", the first TPB of the original series by Giffen/DeMatteis. Any word on more trades other than the recent miniseries?
I also picked up Kurt Busiek's "Arrowsmith" and Mark Waid's "Empire" I'm not a big fan of either writer. (They've both done some great work, some bad work, and a lot of in between work.) But I was interested in the ideas and buzz around these books, so I thought I'd give them a try.
Can't wait for the next issue of "New Frontier" next week!

I love my Marvel subscription. I got Astonishing X-men Saturday and Avengers 500 today. They were both great, but a little disappointing because I had already read most of Avengers at Newsarama and Astonishing 3 wasn't quite as good as the first two. I was hoping for something major to happen at the end of Avengers 500. They did tease somebody getting killed at the end, but we all know they won't kill him off.
There was a big twist at the end of AXM, but it was lame.
